The extension of the Oceanteam Installer unit was the first offshore modification carried out by Poltramp Yard Shipyard. The scope of works included the extension of a special purposes unit – a pontoon for laying cables on the sea bed. This over 65-metre pontoon was placed on a slip, the hull was cut and extended by 15 metres. All systems necessary for the proper functioning of the boat were also extended along with the hull. Once the extension was complete all the facilities and structures used for future cable-laying operations were installed on board.
The works were conducted at the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012 and they opened the way for our shipyard to execute many more projects (new constructions, reconstructions, and mobilisation works) on the off-shore market.
